HilbrAe's story
Hilbrae Rescue Kennels is a long‑established dog rescue charity based in Cold Hatton, near Telford, Shropshire. For more than 35 years, Hilbrae has been a vital lifeline for stray, abandoned and unwanted dogs, providing safety, care and hope to more than 22,000 dogs from the local area. Their story is one of dedication, compassion and unwavering commitment to giving every dog the chance of a better life.
Hilbrae’s mission has always been clear: time or money should never be a limitation on a dog’s life. While local authority funding supports the initial period of care for stray dogs, everything beyond that relies entirely on charitable donations and fundraising. This includes food, veterinary treatment, safe accommodation, exercise, rehabilitation and the ongoing support each dog needs until the right forever home is found.
Beyond rescue work, Hilbrae is an important part of the local community. Members of the public regularly visit to walk the dogs, offering vital exercise, socialisation and companionship. These visits also give local people the opportunity to spend time outdoors, connect with animals and support a cause that truly matters to their community.
Hilbrae’s story is one of resilience, kindness , community spirit and their mission continues to inspire everyone who supports them.
